Unity, ME – Jeff Burgess of Fairfield won his second straight Late Model feature race Friday night, topping the card at Unity Raceway. Other feature winners on the program included Brad Bellows of China, Andy Turbovsky of Winslow, Cary Davis of Solon, Gregg Cummings of Augusta, Justin Moore of Madison, Mika Wilson of Chelsea, Jayson Bosworth of Cornville and Alex Fernald of Benton.
In the heat, Jeff came in 3rd. He finished 5th in the feature. Jeff will not be racing the "150" on Sunday, August 16th.
Jeff finished 2nd in his heat race and 4th in the feature.
The car was very loose in the heat race. Before the feature, Jeff made a couple of adjustments to tighten the car up. He was progressing through the pack in the feature when the trailing arm bracket broke (the other side this time) and caused the rear-end to move. That made the rear tire rub and it made a lot of smoke. Jeff had to pull into the pit for the night.
Jeff took the lead for a few laps in the heat race before he started sliding back in the pack. He had a tire problem and ended up having to pit, so he didn't finish. In the feature he steadily worked his way through the top 5 and finished 2nd for the evening. There won't be any racing this weekend. Jeff's next race will be on 7/26.
